    i am from india and have been suffering from diabetes for the past six years (no family history) and from B.P. and high cholestrol for the past one year. i have been a very heavy smoker for the past 24 years and truly believe that that may have contributed to my diabetes and B.P. problem. i was also under treatment for chronic depression and perceived (by the doctor) schizophrenia for a period of two yrs. i am planning to quit now and am working on a quit smoking problem. i am worried that this action might aggravate (atleast initially)my diabetic condition as i came to know that smoking increases the BMR and after quitting the BMR would slow down. i fear that this could contribute to a spurt in the diabetic condition. is my assumption right or wrong? also i would like to know what kind of foods i might take to gain energy in the absence of cigarettes? i would be very grateful to you if you could help me here.

    Congratulations on opening the door of taking ownership of your health!
    Rather than feeling “trapped”, you do want to take simple but powerful steps to “unravel” your current condition.
    Regarding your concerns about your Basic Metabolic Rate, I’d start by listening to the 2nd audio I just uploaded on the blog under today’s (January 24th) date, and then go back and review the 3 steps at the end of the lesson from Day #6 of the Road Map to Health e-course.
    Then take a couple steps, and let me know your experience!
